May 3, 2008 Sunday submitted by Chris   Subject:  Amanda & Jason June 2008

I met with one of my favorite couple's Amanda and Jason
to put the final touches on their soon to take place AWESOME wedding.
Their reception will set sail in June 2008 on The Detroit River Princess!
Amanda and Jason selected this reception venue that truly is outside the box.
The nuptials will take place in Canada and reception on the fantastic Detroit River Princess, complete with sailing, dinner and dancing.  Private decking surrounds their reception room for guests that want to enjoy the view.  Our meeting took place with the staff of the river princess and MOH Lena to select linens and discuss room set up.  The staff was pleasantly organized and ready to do whatever it takes to make this June wedding the best of the season.  Groom to be Jason is so involved with all the selections.  Jason has been with Amanda with all our meetings and is making sure everything will be perfect for their wedding.  Grooms to be take a lesson from Jason, it's your wedding too, so get involved in planning the biggest celebration of your life!
Amanda & Jason colors are blue.  How fitting for the river boat as we sail into the blue waters of USA and Canada!  They have selected beautiful centerpieces cube vases of  hydrangeas with champagne roses and taller vases with Calla Lilies and champagne roses submerged in water.  Their head table will be lighted and stagged.  Live topiaries with be used around the boat to complete the look they want.  It should be a beautiful summer setting for this wonderful couple.

Setting a budget or total expenditure is vital in the early planning stages.  By breaking your budget  into categories you can increase or decrease each section based on your own priority.  For instance, some couples prefer to spend more money on their reception than their honeymoon or visa versa.  Setting your priorities early in the planning stages will help you avoid pitfalls and last minute unexpected expenditures, keeping you from paying for your wedding long after your first anniversary.  Try to create a three column spread sheet with the following percentages: First column list the items.  Second column list your percentages and third list the actual cost.  This way adjustments can be made early on in the planning stages.  Don't forget to include a budget for wedding planning which can help drastically reduce all other categories!
Once you have determined how much you have to spend you can adjust your list accordingly.  For example if your total budget is $12,000 for your reception cost would be $4440 (37%) and your guest list is 100 people you will have $44.00 to spend per person.

Kicking off our 2008 wedding season.  Thanks to Audrey for all her attention to detail.  Sometimes I have to drag her away from the reception site to get to the church on time.  She fusses over every detail that's why we love her!  She makes sure your reception decor is perfect.  Every t is crossed and all i's are dotted!  Keep up the good work Audrey.
We had the pleasure of working with another
chair cover company selected by our bride.  Name I will not mention.
They where short 2 covers (left us 198 for 200 person wedding)!
Our staff did the juggle so it worked!
After the reception they came up missing 10 sashes.
I picked up the tab so my bride wouldn't have to.
We look forward to ALWAYS using Rene at Allstar
or Sharon at Linens by Harte to avoid these mishaps
Thank you Rene and Sharon
for your quality, accuracy and great linens!

If you don't have a wedding planner and are thinking of doing without.  Think twice.  We encounter so many mishaps that "wella" we mange to fix before the first guest arrives.  Our brides and their guests are not even aware of the "fires" we put out.  The details make the difference.  We have had a guest arrive that didn't RSVP, who happens to be close family and has no seat for dinner.  Problem solved usually within 5 minutes, we can whip up a chair, cover and place setting and let your great aunt sit with the family she came with!  All that without having the hall charge for an additional guest.

Amanda & Jason's wedding took place on June 14, 2008 and as anticipated the wedding was truely amazing.  The ship was decked out with lights, floral and linen's all to create this fairtale international wedding.  The staff of the Detroit Princess and Affordable Events by Chris staff worked together to create this couple's amazing day.  We even covered the additional travel time to the ceremony by leaving staff on the boat to set up.  The Detroit weather cooperated with blue skies matched the water and the colors of Amanda's wedding.
